Professional Support Lawyer - Employment

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) to join a top-tier Employment & Immigration team at one of the UK's leading law firms based in Bristol. As a PSL, this candidate will be a vital part of the department's engine room-ensuring lawyers have access to the latest legal knowledge, best practice, and training that enables them to deliver exceptional service. The role goes beyond traditional support; it's about shaping how the team works, driving efficiency, and contributing directly to business growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and updating the team's legal knowledge database - from precedents to policies - making sure it's practical, comprehensive, and easy to use.
  • Leading the annual departmental support service, enhancing client value through knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Keeping the team ahead with regular summaries of legal updates, case law, and legislative changes, delivered through engaging training sessions.
  • Advising on trends and developments in employment law that could impact the business.
  • Designing and delivering workshops, seminars, and webinars aligned with business development goals.
  • Supporting and leading department projects, with clear ownership and accountability.
  • Driving the department's strategic objectives by contributing ideas and executing initiatives.


The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience in employment law, ideally with some background in knowledge management or training. They will be a confident communicator, both written and verbal, skilled in translating complex legal issues into accessible guidance. Organised, proactive, and technically adept, this person thrives juggling multiple priorities and building strong working relationships.
