Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Employability Skills Tutor to provide high-quality education and training for learners completing a variety of sector-specific qualifications. These include Employability Skills, Customer Service, Business Administration and Adult Social Care. The role is to deliver an effective programme of learning with quality teaching, whilst assessing learners against the relevant awarding organisation and industry standards. You will support learners in developing their Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours, equipping them with the tools they need to secure and sustain employment.

You will plan and deliver the Awarding Organisations requirements to learners on the course. This includes designing engaging learning experiences, ensuring high-quality delivery and assessment, and tracking learners' progress effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment for employability programmes, ensuring successful learner outcomes.

Support learners in developing the skills and confidence necessary for employment, tailoring learning to individual needs.

Plan and deliver functional skills (Maths & English) sessions as part of the wider employability curriculum, where required.

Provide engaging and relevant employability training, helping learners develop CV writing, interview techniques, job search strategies, and workplace behaviours.

Ensure the smooth and effective running of the course, meeting the highest possible teaching and learning standards.

Work with multiple learners of varying needs, ensuring positive learning outcomes for all.

Understand and apply the importance of equipping people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in the job market.

Establish and implement strategies for addressing poor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and class performance.

Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance, performance, and progression, in line with funding rules and compliance requirements.

Requirements Of The Role

Accountable for managing the performance of students and delivery of the qualification, initially and growing each students experience, for successful completion of the programme.

Advise and mentor learners on the embedding and assessment of each programme, as taught in their programmes and maintain delivery standards equivalent to or higher than a good as per the education inspection framework, striving for outstanding.

Provide leadership in delivering high-quality employability sessions, by establishing strategies for dealing with poor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and class performance as well as keeping registers and other student information as required by funding rules and for statistical purposes.

Provide direction and take a leadership role in the implementation of learning outcomes and development, and ensure all learners have the highest possible outcome and all-around experience, in accordance with Pathway Group Values and OFSTED regulations.

Other Duties

  • Support learners in the developing their practice through standardisation and sharing of best practices

Promote a high-performance positive culture where learners are enthused and motivated to perform to their best, through supportive and professional leadership and management

  • Assess learners knowledge and understanding through teaching, learning and assessment methods
  • Support learners to develop their behaviours relating to their qualification
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of learners exams and assessments.
  • Identify and overcome barriers to learning, adapting delivery methods to meet individual needs
  • Work towards key performance indicators, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage own diary and caseload effectively, maintaining high organisational and planning standards.
  • Demonstrate a passion for changing lives through quality teaching and learner development.
  • Be proactive, professional, and engaging in supporting learners educational journeys.
  • Confidently deliver and support learners with Maths and English Functional Skills, when required.
  • Identify learner needs, implement SMART targets, and track assessment plans.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting strict deadlines and achieving performance targets

Knowledge And Skills

Possess a recognised teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above (hold or be working towards), which could include any of the following: Level 3 or 4 Award in Education and Training, Level 3 PTLLS teaching qualification or equivalent or Diploma or Certificate in Education

GCSE Grade A*-C in English, Maths, and IT or equivalent

Experience in educational delivery and working knowledge within the training/education sector

Strong coaching, mentoring, and communication skills.

Experience of 1:1 based delivery as well as larger group sessions

Commitment to CPD/professional development/safeguarding

An understanding of curriculum design and assess data

Up-to-date knowledge of the education inspection framework

Understanding of ESFA funding rules and Ofsted requirements.
