A leading educational provider in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Employability and English Instructor to support young people with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging lessons in Functional English and foster a positive learning environment. This full-time role offers an ongoing/temp to perm contract with an ASAP start.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or in an alternative education/SEN setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Functional English and employability frameworks.
  • Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification if not already held.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons in Functional English (Entry Level to Level 2).
  • Support learners in developing core employability skills, including CV writing and interview prep.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment.
  • Support learners' personal and social development alongside their academic progress.

Are you an Instructor Teacher/Unqualified Teacher/Tutor who enjoys working in an alternative provision with young people with social, emotional, and mental health challenges?

Do you have the skills to teach functional English and prepare learners for employment? If so, this is the ideal role for you!

Academics are seeking a dedicated and engaging Employability and English Instructor to join a successful specialist Post-16 SEMH provision in Southampton. This is a full-time contract to start ASAP. This is an ongoing/temp to perm contract so please only apply if you are seeking a permanent position.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lessons in Functional English (Entry Level to Level 2)
  • Support learners in developing core employability skills, including CV writing, interview prep, workplace behaviour etc
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment
  • Support learners' personal and social development alongside their academic progress
Requirements
  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs or in an alternative education/SEN setting
  • Strong knowledge of Functional English and employability frameworks
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS, DTLLS, CertEd, or equivalent) – or willingness to work towards one
  • Resilience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
