Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs as an SEN Teaching Assistant or similar.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
  • A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Willingness to support students with personal care, where necessary.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN across all Key Stages.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Promote a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
  • Help students manage their behaviour and develop social skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to monitor progress.
  • Support students with personal care, if required.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in learning and daily activities.
  • Prepare learning resources and adapt materials to meet individual needs.
  • Record observations and contribute to student progress reviews.
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to inclusive education.
