Emergency Nurse Practitioner/ Emergency Care Practitioner

The post holder will autonomously undertake assessment and treatment of patients in the Urgent care who who may present with Minor illnesses and/or injury; to determine a clinical diagnosis, treatment and appropriate discharge as indicated as well as maintaining comprehensive patient records.

Main duties of the job

To independently undertake highly specialized clinical assessments, diagnose, treat and discharge patients with a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries, including management of complex cases using evidence based practice.To refer appropriately to senior team, medical teams and multi-disciplinary professionals where a second opinion is required.

Provide specialist advice relating to minor illness and/or injury to local healthcare teams, patients, relatives and carers.

Ensuring that patient records and documentation are maintained in line with NMC/ HCPC standards, Trust policies and use of the electronic patient records system.

Work within local protocols, guidelines, PGDs (Patient Group Directives).

To work flexibly, including a shift pattern that covers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the Service Manager and Lead Nurse in delivering and promoting the needs of the service.

To provide clinical supervision /mentorship (where appropriately trained) to junior practitioners.

Recognise and work within one's own competence and professional code of conduct as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and other Health Care Professions (HCPC).

Be an effective role model and expert resource for nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Help to provide education and training both formally and informally to colleagues.
