Job description

The EMEA Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for providing project management oversight and leadership for large-scale projects (or multiple medium-sized projects) delivering 3-GIS technology into Tier 1 and Tier 2 Telecommunication companies. This role will be part of a highly motivated, self-supporting project management team that plays an integral part in delivery of projects and are key enablers of 3-GIS’s strategic goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides project management to large-scale projects or programs (or multiple medium-sized projects)
  • Leads and motivates the project team toward desired project objective and outcomes
  • Sets and continually manages project expectations with all stakeholders while delegating and managing deliverables with appropriate project staff
  • Defines project success criteria and disseminate to the project team
  • Manages project scope and changes to the scope of assigned projects; updates the Project Schedule for each project
  • Identifies, documents and manages project issues, risks, action items, and decisions; resolves escalated issues in a timely manner
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and control the activities of each assigned project, including budgeting, resource utilization, and financials
  • Follows through on the day-to-day details of each assigned project including managing costs, hours, scope, quality, and schedule
  • Reports financials during monthly PMO meetings to keep 3-GIS management apprised of project progress
  • Leads internal and client-facing project meetings
  • Provide weekly status reporting to internal and external stakeholders regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, action items, and decisions
  • Conduct weekly time entry and billable hours review for entire project team
  • Monitor project team member performance and escalate if there are any performance issues that may impact the project
  • May directly manage others; actively monitors performance, participates in performance reviews, conducts training and ensures that deliverables are accomplished accurately and efficiently
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to PMO team members to encourage skill development and professional growth
  • May attend and/or present at industry conferences, lead workshops or write articles for the 3-GIS website
  • Actively participates in all company and department meetings and events
  • Maintains excellent knowledge of all 3-GIS products, policies and PMO procedures
  • Evaluates PMO processes and make recommendations to continuously improve operational efficiency and productivity
  • Continues professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices in project management
  • May perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall success of the company

  • Passionate about traditional project management activities

Work Environment:

  • Works in an indoor office/home office environment
  • Sit for long periods, standing and walking intermittently
  • Use office equipment such as computer, mouse, keyboard, printer
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds
  • 40 hours per week (100%) is mandatory

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • 15+ years of project management experience; minimum 5 years in Telecommunications professional services industry
  • Experience of working with legacy technology (Smallworld and Ericsson Network Engineer) a preference
  • Prior supervisory experience desired
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications and Microsoft Project
  • PMI PMBOK understanding; PMI PMP certification a differentiator

Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position expected to work 40+ hours per week.
