Job summary

A leading energy technology company in the UK seeks a Senior Embedded Software Developer on a contract basis to enhance their Controls Team. This role involves developing control software for Hydrogen Fuel-Cell generators and auxiliary systems, requiring strong skills in embedded software and real-time systems. The position allows for some remote work, but on-site presence is needed weekly. Candidates should enjoy hands-on troubleshooting and be proactive in their work. Initial project duration is around six months with potential for future projects.

Qualifications

Senior Embedded Software Developer CONTRACT

We are very proud to have been chosen by AFC Energy PLC to join them in an Exclusive Talent Partnership to provide them with contract support during 2026!

Located in the picturesque Surrey countryside, AFC Energy PLC are a UK-based team of energy-tech pioneers on a mission to replace polluting fossil fuel generation with hydrogen fuel cells. They develop hydrogen fuel cell technologies which focus on the displacement of diesel generators in stationary and maritime applications. The technology utilises hydrogen fuel for zero emission electricity generation.

Responsibilities

Our first opportunity is for a Contract Senior Embedded Software Developer to strengthen their Controls Team. The main task is to further develop the control software of Hydrogen Fuel-Cell generators and auxiliary systems such as simulators and telematics solutions.

To be considered you must be comfortable working with little supervision and perform hands-on fault racing on physical machines. Some of the work can be completed remotely but there is a need for the individual to be onsite each week, due to the hands-on nature of the work. The initial project is expected to run for around 6 months but there is likely to be additional projects in the future.
