A leading diagnostics firm in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, is seeking an Electronic System Engineer to lead design cycles for electronics-heavy medical devices. The role involves hands-on engineering across hardware and firmware, supporting verification and validation processes. Candidates should have a strong background in electronics engineering, experience with PCB design, and the ability to navigate regulated industries. This is a full-time, on-site position offering the chance to contribute to innovative projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in electronics engineering.
  • Experience in PCB design and layout, embedded/firmware literacy.
  • Hands-on engineering mindset.
  • Experience in regulated or process-heavy industries.
  • Exposure to ISO frameworks, especially ISO 13485 is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design cycles, updates, and enhancements on electronics-heavy medical device.
  • Documentation, traceability, and the technical file.
  • Deliver design changes driven by new standards or product performance needs.
  • Work hands-on with hardware, firmware, mechanical, optical, and microfluidics specialists.
  • Support verification & validation from a design perspective.
  • Interface with global partners, including China-based manufacturing groups.
  • Contribute to next-gen platforms with increased throughput and advanced architecture.

Electronic System Engineer

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading diagnostics business which is scalng up it's engineering team due to new international investment. This is for a dynamic electronics engineer who can operate across hardware, firmware, and cross-functional design areas while working in a heavily regulated environment. That means, you ll be involved directly into the design cycle that takes their new technology from concept to the market.

This is a permanent, full time on site role based in Newcastle.

Electronic System Engineer Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design cycles, updates, and enhancements across an electronics-heavy medical device.

  • Documentation, traceability, and the technical file.

  • Deliver design changes driven by new standards, global regulatory requirements, or product performance needs

  • Work hands-on with hardware, firmware, mechanical, optical, and microfluidics specialists

  • Support verification & validation from a design perspective.

  • Interface with global partners, including China-based manufacturing groups.
