Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for an experienced Electrician to perform EICR inspections and remedial works across social housing properties in Reading. The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and proven EICR testing experience. This temporary position offers a competitive salary between £38,000 to £42,000 per annum, along with a bonus scheme, pension, training, and additional benefits. Qualifications

  • Proven EICR and electrical testing experience.
  • Housing association or similar experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct EICR inspections and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Perform routine testing, maintenance, and remedial works.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems.
  • Complete accurate EICR certification and maintain records.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to tenants.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and contractors.

Electrician / Domestic Testing Engineer (EICR)

Salary: £38,000-£42,000 p/a plus commissions OTE £55,000+ (per test & remedials in the property)

Reports to: Qualified Supervisor

Location: Social Housing Contracts - Reading

This is a temporary position with the possibility of going permanent after 12 weeks.

The Role

We're seeking a skilled Electrician with proven EICR testing experience to carry out electrical and remedial works across our Housing Association properties. This is a key role to ensure tenant safety, compliance, and quality service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct EICR inspections and ensure all electrical work complies with current regulations.
  • Perform routine testing, maintenance, and remedial works on Housing Association properties.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults quickly and efficiently.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems to a high standard.
  • Complete accurate EICR certification and maintain detailed records.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to tenants, addressing concerns promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
What You'll Need
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 in Inspection & Testing (preferred).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Proven EICR and electrical testing experience.
  • Housing association or similar experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
