Electrical Technician – Band 5

Location: London based
Pay Rate: £21.18 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Initial 6-month contract
Hours: 37.5 per week

Are you a skilled Electrical Technician looking for your next opportunity? Join the Estates team at a Large Hospital and play a vital role in maintaining and improving essential electrical systems across our Trust.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance of complex electrical, mechanical, and control systems within a healthcare environment. This includes fault finding, testing, and repairs on systems such as emergency lighting, fire alarms, nurse call systems, UPS, generators, and more. You’ll also support supervisory duties and manage workloads via Archibus when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
  • Work on Building Management Systems (BMS) and Air Handling Units.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (must be able to attend site within 1 hour).
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members.
Essential Requirements
  • Fully qualified electrician with:
    • 18th Edition IET Regulations.
    • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing).
    • NVQ Level 3 and completed apprenticeship.
  • Strong experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Clean driving licence (beneficial for on-call duties).
Desirable
  • Previous NHS or healthcare experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and BMS controls.
