Job description
Overview

Working across our University estates and reporting to the Electrical Team Supervisor, you will be part of the Electrical Services Technicians team, responsible for reactive, planned and preventative maintenance in our residential and academic buildings. We are looking to recruit 1 Electrical Services Technician. This is a full-time vacancy which is 37 hours (typically Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm, and 8am to 4pm on Fridays) with an on-call rota allowance. A basic DBS check will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Reactive, planned and preventative maintenance work on electrical systems
  • Fault-finding, testing, and inspection of electrical installations
  • Undertaking minor installation and improvement works
  • Provide guidance, coaching and on the job training to handypersons and other discipline technicians/apprentices when co-working
  • Complying with all relevant health and safety legislation and procedures, and reporting any potentially unsafe working methods, installations or equipment to supervision/management as appropriate
Qualifications and experience
  • A recognised apprenticeship in electrical services (NVQ Level 3, AM2, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification)
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
  • Experience in electrical maintenance and installation, ideally within a similar environment
  • Good prioritisation and time management skills
  • Comfortable working on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Full driving licence with the ability to be insured for our vehicles
