Qualifications

Responsibilities

Electrical building services design (fire alarms, lighting, PA, HVAC, etc.)
Strong understanding of Health & Safety, Design, and Quality procedures
Experience managing complex designs through the full project lifecycle
Expertise in engineering design practice & relevant safety protocols
Familiarity with engineering office software tools

Education

Degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline
Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent knowledge

Your future team

We're looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the Discipline Lead in delivering high‑quality, cost‑effective, and on‑schedule engineering work packages for both nuclear and non-nuclear projects.

Your missions
  • ⚡ Assist in managing technical deliverables of Electrical Engineering packages
  • 📐 Prepare and/or check designs, drawings, analyses, reports, and specs
  • 🧩 Solve technical challenges and support innovative design development
  • 📊 Plan and review project schedules, budgets & progress using EVM techniques
  • 🔍 Support site inspections and ensure alignment with design intent & regulations
  • 🧑🏫 Supervise and guide junior staff, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • 📚 Apply lessons learned and maintain detailed records of skills and development
  • 🏗️ Provide design support during construction, commissioning & operations

Qualifications
  • 🎓 Degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline (preferred)
  • 🏅 Chartered Engineer or actively working towards chartership
  • ⚛️ Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear/marine systems knowledge
  • 💡 Electrical building services design (fire alarms, lighting, PA, HVAC, etc.)
  • 🧠 Strong understanding of Health & Safety, Design, and Quality procedures
  • 🛠️ Experience managing complex designs through the full project lifecycle
  • 🧾 Expertise in engineering design practice & relevant safety protocols
  • 📁 Familiarity with engineering office software tools
  • 🚢 Prior experience with submarine/facility design (conventional or nuclear) is a bonus
Additional Information
  • 📍 On‑site role in Plymouth is preferred
  • 💻 Hybrid working can be considered for the right candidate
  • All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
