Qualifications

Job description
Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Service Technician/Site Services Engineer to work for one of our clients in Burton on Trent. The client is a market-leading manufacturer of specialist equipment to a range of industry sectors including heavy engineering and aerospace. Due to the specialist nature of the products the work is both interesting and varied and will involve fault finding/fault rectification, carrying electrical and some basic mechanical repairs, panel building and wiring and attending planned maintenance visits and breakdowns. As such the role will involve travel both in the UK and overseas. In addition to the service and repair aspects of the role the work will also involve working on installation projects as and when required, together with testing and commissioning. This will also involve some surveying and estimating of materials needed and the creation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

Responsibilities
  • Fault finding and fault rectification.
  • Carrying electrical and some basic mechanical repairs, panel building and wiring.
  • Attending planned maintenance visits and breakdowns (travel within the UK and overseas).
  • Installation projects, testing and commissioning as required.
  • Surveying and estimating materials; creating Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Qualified in an electrical discipline to HNC level preferred; NVQ Level 3 or above considered.
  • Proven track record in electrical maintenance and installation work.
  • Strong fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to interrogate PLC programmes, I/O; knowledge of Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley.
  • Ability to follow circuit diagrams and specifications.
  • Project installation work and panel building experience.
  • Experience of commissioning new and refurbished machinery.
  • Basic mechanical installation skills.
  • Working knowledge of combustion systems is advantageous but not essential.
Travel

This is a service role with regular travel within the UK and overseas.
