Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a maintenance engineer for a 6-month contract in Glasgow. You will work on a 4 on, 4 off rotation to assist in reactive and preventive maintenance tasks for distribution equipment in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must hold HNC/HND qualifications and Level 3 NVQ, alongside strong problem-solving skills. Experience with automated systems is beneficial.

Job description

Overview

Contract opportunity. Expected 6 month contract (may be 3 month with 3 month extension). £35 per hour. Outside IR35. 4 on, 4 off (days & nights).

Experience of working in a fast-paced, automated, distribution environment or similar is required. The role is based in the Glasgow region. You will work on a 4 on, 4 off rotation alongside the existing maintenance team on reactive and preventive tasks to support facilities distribution activities. The client, a large manufacturing business, needs additional support for a likely period of 6 months. You will work in partnership with the existing permanent engineering team to maintain a variety of distribution equipment including conveyors, cranes and wrappers.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the existing maintenance team on reactive and preventive (PPM) tasks to support distribution activities.
• Maintain distribution equipment including conveyors, cranes and wrappers.

Qualifications

• You must hold an HNC/HND level qualification as well as a Level 3 NVQ (minimum). The NVQ must be a work-based competency qualification such as part of an Apprenticeship or standalone NVQ.
• Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability and willingness to work on both reactive and PPM jobs.
• You must be happy and have previous experience of working at height; any related qualifications/certifications in this field are highly beneficial.
• Experience with automated systems is not required but beneficial, e.g., AS/RS systems.
