Overview
Electrical Maintenance Engineer — Bath — Day Shift. A leading paper mill specialising in the production of banknotes and security paper. The site in Bath has a rich history and is known for its high-quality manufacturing standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventive, remedial, and reactive maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment.
- Apply effective fault-finding and investigation techniques to quickly resolve issues, ensuring optimal machine utilization and minimal production downtime.
- Perform hardware and software updates, diagnostics, and maintenance of the Rockwell FactoryTalk platform, including Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell SCADA.
- Implement upgrades and modifications to electrical and process control systems to enhance performance and functionality.
- Diagnose plant-related process and engineering conditions and work with shift personnel to resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to improve productivity and efficiency while recommending capital expenditures for long-term growth.
- Assist the Project Team in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and CAPEX projects.
- Maintain accurate work history in the CMMS system and identify necessary follow-up actions.
- Uphold high standards of housekeeping, risk assessments, cleanliness, and 5S practices in the department.
- Participate fully in the Performance Development Review (PDR) process and maintain records of all training and development activities.
- Supervise and direct contractors for both maintenance and project-related tasks.
- Serve as a member of the engineering on-call team, providing support for shift engineers and the Bathford Mill outside of standard working hours.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- BTEC ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Electronics (or equivalent qualification).
- Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship or equivalent, including a recognized electrical qualification (C&G/NVQ standard).
- Proven experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA, including PLC modifications.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills for process control field equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering regulations, such as BS7671:2018.
- Experience in process or manufacturing within a continuous production environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with AC and DC variable speed drives.
- Willingness to undergo further training to meet business needs.
- Good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (additional IT skills are an advantage).

Salary & Shift Pattern
Salary: £42,000 + £4,000 call-out allowance (£46,000 total).
Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:00 and Friday 08:00 - 15:00.
On-call duty will begin after 3-6 months of training. Callout will be every 4-6 weeks.
Call-out schedule: 24/7 (Monday - Friday), with a 1.5x pay rate for call-outs.
