Position summary:

The Product Development Electrical Engineering Technician supports various phases of projects, primarily the build and testing phase (planning, assembly, and troubleshooting of first-time builds and low-volume production orders). As a member of the Product Development department, the Electrical Technician will work on design, fabrication, and testing of ECUs and Chillers. Technicians collaborate with Engineering personnel to build new products that satisfy customer requirements and determine the best assembly sequence to support future production.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on build support of control and electrical panels. Wiring of ECUs, Chillers, and related products
  • Support prototype builds electrically by resolving design issues and ensuring accurate and complete documentation
  • Support testing of components, sub-assemblies and prototype systems
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements to electrical test fixtures and procedures
  • Review work instructions and procedures for proper control panel assembly wiring
  • PLC programming/troubleshooting (experience with Phoenix Contact hardware and PC WORX software a strong plus)
  • Design mounting and enclosure solutions to support electrical components in mechanically driven systems
  • Assist in preparing clear, thorough work instructions and build documentation to support prototype and production assembly teams
  • Collaborate with purchasing, fabrication vendors, and internal teams to support custom component procurement
  • Assist in developing 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks, focusing on electrical panels and wiring
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), part numbers, and routings within the Epicor MRP system (training provided)
  • Review complex electrical schematic details
  • Utilize information from vendor drawings, catalogs, and technical manuals
  • Work with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and technicians
  • Adhere to ACT’s Quality Manual, safety and corporate policies, standards of conduct, rules and procedures

Requirements
  • US citizenship or permanent residency strongly due to ITAR requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, MRP Systems, and PLC programming (PC WORX or PLCnext)
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with fabrication, troubleshooting, and testing of motor controllers, complex electrical circuits, PLC systems or other relevant control system experience
  • E.E.T or E.M.E.T degree is preferable
  • Strong problem-solving ability and desire to iterate complicated solutions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
