A leading engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to oversee cutting-edge hydropower projects. Due to our ongoing success we are rapidly growing and seek a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team, working on the design and development of cutting‑edge hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions. This role can be based anywhere in the UK.

You will play a key role in all aspects of hydropower projects, from feasibility studies and concept design to construction and commissioning. You will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations and transmission lines. You will perform design, model and analyse electrical and electronic systems to ensure project feasibility and compliance with industry standards.
As a Principal, you will take line management responsibility for some members of the team, support business growth and strategy development and take ownership of project deliverables.
We work closely with the growing transmission and distribution business and there will also be opportunities to engage in the design and delivery of significant grid upgrade projects including new transmission lines and substations.
You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated project design.
