Solution 47 Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a long-established engineering client in Saffron Walden who is seeking a motivated Trainee Repairs Engineer to join their growing team. This position is ideal for someone with basic electrical knowledge who is keen to learn, develop new skills, and progress within the engineering sector.

You’ll work on the repair, servicing, and maintenance of a variety of engineering equipment, with travel to other sites as needed. As your experience grows, you’ll take on more complex work and move up a clear career ladder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance on engineering equipment.
  • Assist with fault-finding across electrical systems and basic mechanical components.
  • Travel to customer sites and additional company locations (driving licence required).
  • Support senior engineers and receive hands‑on training in more advanced repair tasks.
  • Record and document repair activities accurately.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe, organised workspace.
  • Build knowledge of electrical systems, equipment operation, and mechanical processes.
About You
  • Basic electrical knowledge (college course, early apprenticeship, hobby experience, etc.).
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the engineering field.
  • Full UK driving licence required due to site travel.
  • Mechanical knowledge preferred but not essential—training provided.
  • Practical, hardworking, and comfortable using hand tools.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and a positive attitude.
