Overview
An exciting fixed-term position for a psychologist or CBT therapist to join the Havering Early Intervention Psychosis Team for 6 months.
The post holder will join a well-established early intervention in psychosis service for people with a psychotic diagnosis and their families, delivering CBT for psychosis with people aged 14–65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The role suits an enthusiastic psychologist or CBT therapist with an interest in developing skills in applying evidence-based psychological therapies with this client group and in working within multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment and evidence-based interventions for people experiencing first-episode psychosis within the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and offer input on psychological approaches to working with psychosis.
- Participate in supervision and CPD focused on evidence-based interventions in psychosis.
- Receive individual and group supervision in CBT for psychosis; contribute to a team with practitioners interested in Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR and Family Intervention for Psychosis among other approaches.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified psychologist or CBT therapist with an interest in applying evidence-based therapies for psychosis.
- Willingness to develop skills in CBT for psychosis and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Training and Professional Development
- Supervision and CPD focused on psychosis interventions will be provided.
- Links with local clinical psychology courses and CBT training pathways (e.g., UCL CBTp diploma) are in place; opportunities for teaching and involvement in research projects may be available.

- Probationary Period: This post is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless currently in probation or staff are a bank member.
- Starting with NELFT: Induction process for new starters includes up to two weeks of comprehensive induction, mandatory training, and equipment allocation, with induction held at the Trust head office in Rainham, Essex.
- High Cost Area Supplement: 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,313; maximum £5,436 per annum pro rata).
