Senior Copy Editor

Newport, Edinburgh, Titchfield, or Darlington (4 days in office) £35 per hour initially 12 months Interview: virtual

Advantage Resourcing is collaborating with a leading public organisation to recruit a Senior Copy Editor with added communications responsibilities. This role strengthens how the organisation writes, ensuring every piece of communication is clear, consistent, and impactful. You’ll help sharpen the organisation’s voice while supporting wider communications tasks in a small, flexible team.

What will you be doing?
  • Refine and edit reports, papers, and publications for clarity, accuracy, and tone consistency.
  • Maintain and evolve a unified editorial style and organisational voice across all materials.
  • Guide colleagues on writing best practice and deliver tailored training to build writing confidence and skill.
  • Review and enhance content to ensure accessibility and maximum impact for audiences.
  • Work with subject matter experts to craft concise, engaging, and effective messaging.
  • Support communications tasks including media queries, web publishing, and digital content creation.
A couple of things you should know:
  • Proven background in copy editing or communications, ideally in a public or regulatory setting.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading ability with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Track record of building others’ capability through coaching or training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills—able to connect with colleagues and external partners with confidence.
