This is an excellent opportunity to join my client, a trusted, industry-leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy, renowned for lending their expertise to a range of important projects across the ecological, planning and design, and arboricultural landscapes. They are proactively searching for a driven, experienced Ecologist (Botany), willing to take on a variety of challenging projects alongside an already-established team of professionals, based near the diverse, vibrant city of Birmingham.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting a range of field surveys, managing your time and schedule accordingly
  • Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), adhering to the relevant guidelines and procedures
  • Overseeing a number of diverse projects, from small scale to more complex
  • Coordinating Ecological Surveys, analysing and interpreting data, and using it to inform further aspects of your projects
  • Applying your knowledge of Protected Species Mitigation throughout the course of your projects
  • Engaging with your team and the wider company, maintaining the highest of standards throughout your work
  • Effectively managing your time and resources, across several multifaceted projects
Required skills and experience
  • A Bachelor Master’s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Ecology, Environmental Management, or a similar, relevant discipline
  • Experience of consulting surveys and utilising the data to complete reports
  • Hold a full, valid UK Driving Licence, with a willingness to travel across the UK for work, as and when required
  • Excellent working knowledge of ecology, surveying techniques, and relevant legislation and procedures
  • Good understanding of Protected Species Surveys, and the development of Mitigation Strategies
  • Hold at least one Protected Species Licence (or be proactively working toward attaining this)
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of botany, including Survey Identification Skills
  • Have a good working knowledge of Planning Policy, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), in relation to development projects
Desirable skills and experience
  • Demonstrable prior experience within an ecological consultancy (or Local Authority) setting
  • Hold several Protected Species Licences
