Job description
Early Years Teaching Assistant (School Based)

Location: Chelmsford Rate: £90 - £100 per day (Weekly Pay) Hours: 08:30 - 15:30 (Term Time Only) Contract: Long-term / Permanent opportunities available

Take your Early Years career to the next level in Chelmsford.

Are you a Level 3 Nursery Nurse or Early Years Practitioner looking for a new challenge?

We are working with a popular and welcoming Primary School in the heart of Chelmsford that is specifically seeking staff with strong EYFS knowledge to join their Reception team.

This school values the "ground-up" knowledge that nursery practitioners possess-particularly regarding phonics, learning through play, and supporting social development.

This is not just a general assistant role. You will be a key part of the Foundation Stage team, helping to bridge the gap for children entering full-time education.

  • 1:1 Support: Supporting a specific child in Reception with Speech & Language difficulties (experience with visual timetables or PECS is a huge advantage).
  • Interventions: delivering short, fun phonics sessions (Read Write Inc. / Jolly Phonics).
  • Observation: Using your background in the EYFS framework to help the teacher track pupil progress.
  • Environment: Helping to manage indoor and outdoor "free flow" learning areas.
Why this role is great for you:
  • Local Work: Convenient Chelmsford location with onsite parking and good transport links.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy school holidays, weekends off, and finish work by 3:30 pm.
  • Great Pay: £90 - £100 per day-highly competitive for the area.
  • Training: The school is happy to invest in training the right candidate in specific SEN strategies.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Early Years (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a Nursery, Pre-school, or Primary School setting.
  • Skills: Good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and a genuine passion for working with the 4-5 age group.
  • DBS: An enhanced DBS check (we can help you apply for this if needed).
