Early Years Practitioner – Sighthill Primary School

Salary: £29,173 – £33,287 (pro‑rated for sessional). Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

Requirements
  • Eligible for registration without conditions with the SSSC as a Practitioner in Day Care of Children.
  • Practice qualification as noted in the attached job profile.
  • Must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check; a valid Overseas Criminal Record Check is required if you have spent 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years.
Responsibilities
  • Work across the nursery or P1 to facilitate high‑quality play both indoors and outdoors.
  • Support children in an area of high deprivation, promoting principles of nurture and social justice.
  • Contribute to the school’s improvement journey as an enthusiastic team player.
  • Undertake regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Partner with staff to embed the City of Edinburgh Council Behaviours – Respect, Integrity and Flexibility – into everyday practice.
