An educational institution in Edinburgh seeks an Early Years Practitioner for a fixed term role until June 2026. This position involves planning high-quality learning experiences for children aged 2-5 years in a newly constructed nursery. Wednesday and Thursday - 9.15am to 3.00pm & Friday - 9.15am to 2.30pm)
Nether Currie Primary School has moved into a new era with the addition of early learning and childcare provision for children aged 2-5 years. A fabulous new nursery building opened in August 2022 and we have steadily seen our numbers of children rise over this time.
We are looking for an Early Years Practitioner to join our setting, who can bring knowledge, experience, vitality, flexibility and a passion for helping young children develop and grow through planning and providing high quality learning experiences.
The setting will offer early learning and childcare 52 weeks of the year, across a variety of models for up to 64 children.
The Early Years Practitioner must hold either SNNB/HNC Child Care and Education or SVQ 3 Social Services, Children and Young People.
Within our early years provision, children may attend between the hours of 8.00am - 6.00pm, 52 weeks of the year. To accommodate this, staff may work on a weekly rotational shift pattern between the hours of 7.45am and 6.15pm.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
