Job summary

A family-run nursery in Houghton-le-Spring is seeking an Early Years Educator to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. You will plan engaging learning experiences based on EYFS principles and build strong relationships with children and families. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and be passionate about early childhood education. This role offers competitive hourly pay and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years Education.
  • Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths required.
  • Enhanced DBS check is necessary.

Location: Chilton Meadows Day Nursery, Houghton-le-Spring

Hours: 16 – 29 hours per week, Monday to Friday (between 7:00am – 6:00pm)

Salary: Starting Salary £13.00 per hour.

We are now looking for an Early Years Educator to join our friendly, experienced team. If you’re passionate about creating a joyful, caring and stimulating learning environment where children belong, thrive and achieve, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

You will play a key part in planning and delivering high‑quality learning experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence, aligned with the EYFS 2025 and Ofsted’s “Exceptional” principles of positive relationships, inspiring teaching, and reflective practice.

You’ll build strong bonds with children, support their individual learning journeys, and work collaboratively with families and colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for every child.

About You
  • Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years Education.
  • Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Passionate, caring, and reflective practitioner with excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and teamwork.
  • Additional training such as Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, or Safeguarding is beneficial (training can be provided).
