£30,000+ (DOE) with On-call Enhancement
You will manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters including attending police stations, representing clients at the Magistrates’ Court and assisting with more complex Crown Court cases where appropriate. The role requires active participation in the duty rota, providing advice and representation both during office hours and on an out-of-hours basis. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you will contribute to thorough case preparation and ensure that clients receive high quality, robust and timely legal advice.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with current Duty Accreditation which is essential for this position. You will have experience handling criminal matters whether gained during training, post-qualification or through prior criminal defence work. Strong advocacy skills, the ability to work efficiently under pressure and a commitment to delivering high quality client care are crucial. You must also be confident attending police stations and representing clients at the Magistrates’ Court, and willing to participate in the out-of-hours rota. Excellent communication, attention to detail and a proactive approach to case management are all key requirements.
