Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional DT Technician to join Kings Norton Girls’ School and Sixth Form (KNGS). Contract Details

The post is available immediately on a permanent, part‑time contract, working term time only: 18 hours per week (0.4331 FTE). Ideally working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the academic year 2025‑2026; days may be negotiable. Working days in future years may change depending on timetable need and therefore may be subject to change on an annual basis.

As a department, our aim is to enable our learners to flourish, develop skills, creativity and independence, through a broad and balanced Design and Make curriculum.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a team player that works collaboratively with the DT teacher to support day‑to‑day teaching. Duties include preparation of materials and resources for teachers and students, maintaining stock levels, maintenance and organisation of DT machinery and equipment. The technician’s role is vital in maintaining high standards of safety in the department.

Qualifications & Requirements

We are looking for an experienced technician or, with training, someone who has the potential to deliver efficient and effective support; please refer to the person specification for the skill set required. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
