DT Technician - Wellingborough

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Pay: Competitive daily rate / hourly rate (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Long-term roles available

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with secondary schools in the Wellingborough area who are seeking a reliable and practical Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support their DT departments.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong practical skills and an interest in education to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning in a busy DT setting.

The role
  • Preparing materials, equipment, and resources for DT lessons
  • Supporting teachers during practical lessons when required
  • Maintaining tools, machinery, and equipment in line with health and safety regulations
  • Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and organising resources
  • Ensuring workshops and classrooms are safe, clean, and well organised
  • Supporting students with the safe use of equipment when appropriate
We're looking for someone who
  • Has experience working in a DT environment (school-based or industry experience welcomed)
  • Has good practical skills (e.g. wood, metal, textiles, electronics, or resistant materials)
  • Has a strong understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Has good communication skills and a team-focused approach
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service
