Job description

A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Dudley is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Food Technology Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a part-time basis (2 days per week Mon & Fri ). This role is being recruited with the support of Progress Teachers, a specialist education recruitment agency.

This is an excellent opportunity to support high-quality teaching and learning in a busy, practical classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and ingredients for practical food technology lessons
  • Ensure the food technology classroom and preparation areas are clean, safe and well maintained
  • Support teachers and students during practical lessons where required
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, including ordering ingredients and supplies
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed, including food hygiene procedures
  • Carry out regular equipment checks and basic maintenance
  • Assist with the safe storage and disposal of food items and waste
Requirements
  • Experience working in a school, food preparation, catering or similar practical environment (desirable)
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A calm, professional and flexible approach to work
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check (or have one registered on the update service)
