Transport Leader – Alliance Healthcare UK
Support the Wholesale Distribution Services in Europe through the Alliance Healthcare business. Lead a team of drivers and transport staff, driving continuous improvement, safety, and compliance across a mixed fleet of LGVs, LCVs and temperature‑controlled vehicles.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team; conduct performance reviews, provide feedback and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Plan and manage driver rotas to ensure trained cover, operational continuity and adherence to legal hours, tachograph and speed limits.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance, fleet records and key performance indicators; maintain compliance with company, legislative and safety standards.
- Ensure transport support for temperature‑controlled distribution, including compliance with temperature‑control regulations.
- Act as the site transport function lead, taking independent decisions to achieve operational success.
- Lead the Health & Safety agenda, conducting reviews, training and risk assessments across the transport operation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing corporate processes, analysing performance data and recommending enhancements.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (Head of CLC, Transport GM, FTM, driver teams, compliance and engineering) and external stakeholders (customers, auditors).
- Manage transport‑related travel, including overnight stays and weekend rota work.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong leadership skills with experience leading driver teams and managing a mixed fleet of LGVs and LCVs, including remote facilities.
- Proven knowledge of transport operations, route planning, vehicle compliance and fleet management.
- Experience working in a highly regulated/audited environment, with familiarity with DVSA regulations, health and safety requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in managing driver and vehicle compliance, health and safety and the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver briefings, team talks and safety updates.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (365, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK and to Link Points.
Travel & Working Conditions
- Some UK travel required; occasional overnight stays.
