A local council in England is seeking a Domestic Abuse Practitioner to provide support to victims of domestic violence. This full-time role involves trauma-informed services, requiring strong communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding. Applicants must have relevant experience and be dedicated to learning and development. This position is open to women only, adhering to specific legislative requirements.
The Domestic Abuse Partnership (DAP) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join the DAP team. The aim of the partnership is to reduce repeat victimisation through enhancing the safety of victims and children by providing a co‑ordinated and effective inter‑agency response to addressing domestic violence and abuse.
Your primary role will be to provide an effective trauma‑informed, victim‑led support and advice service to victims referred to the DAP Team. You must have previous experience of direct work with victims affected by domestic violence and abuse or safeguarding adults or children, and demonstrate an ability to work with victims in an empowering and supportive way. You need an awareness and understanding of the Duluth power‑and‑control methodologies, of power differentials and inequalities between men and women, and the effects that domestic violence and abuse has on victims and their children. Effective communication, organisational skills and the ability to work using your own initiative are required. An informed understanding of safeguarding children and adults is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wishes to develop their knowledge and skills in this complex and often challenging area of work. We welcome applications from individuals who are committed, enthusiastic and willing to learn. Training and development is actively promoted and supported within the team.
