Job summary

A local authority service provider in Ashford seeks an experienced Disrepair Surveyor for a 6-month ongoing contract. You will manage disrepair cases, conduct inspections, prepare specifications, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Undertake inspections of occupied and void properties to identify disrepair issues.
  • Prepare detailed specifications and raise works orders for operatives.
  • Liaise with the Legal team on claims, acting as expert witness when required.
  • Oversee contractors and ensure works meet standards.
  • Identify structural defects and report findings to the Asset Team.
  • Provide technical support to Repairs, Voids, and Compliance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with the HHSRS and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold customer service standards.

Overview

Disrepair Surveyor - Kent/ Local Authority Client. £30 paye / £40 per hour Umbrella per hour LTD / Umbrella (Inside IR35). 37 hours per week. 6-month ongoing contract.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Disrepair Surveyor to join a busy Housing Repairs team for a Local Authority in the Kent area. This role will be responsible for progressing disrepair cases from claim to completion, ensuring works are specified, managed, and delivered to a high standard across the housing stock.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake inspections of occupied and void properties to identify and diagnose disrepair and complex repair issues.
  • Prepare detailed specifications using SOR codes and raise works orders for operatives and contractors.
  • Liaise with the Legal team on Section 11 and Environmental Protection Act claims, acting as expert witness when required.
  • Oversee contractors, carrying out pre- and post-inspections to ensure works meet required standards.
  • Identify structural defects and report findings to the Asset Team.
  • Provide technical support to Repairs, Voids, and Compliance teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold excellent standards of customer service.
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a building-related discipline.
  • Extensive experience managing disrepair claims within a housing or local authority environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, HHSRS, and landlord statutory obligations.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
