A leading global technology company is seeking a Director of Software Engineering in Edinburgh to lead architectural vision and streamline employee lifecycle management processes. Workforce Solutions own the technology that powers Amazon's global hiring and internal mobility processes for Talent Acquisition organizations. We are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to lead the architectural vision and delivery of solutions that streamline employee lifecycle management and career mobility. These are the essential systems that process millions of workforce transactions annually and directly impact Amazon's ability to efficiently match talent to opportunities. These solutions support our hiring velocity, optimize internal mobility, and enable us to deliver customer-centric workforce solutions in Talent Management.
You will lead teams of software engineers, technical product managers, and technical program managers to deliver capabilities that engage millions of candidates and empower thousands of Amazonians who drive the recruiting process. You will work closely with senior team leads to influence the long-term business strategy and to develop innovative technology strategies that fuel business goals, including lowering cost per hire, increasing candidate conversion, improving recruiting velocity, and elevating hire quality. You will work closely with internal customers, science teams, and partners to build capabilities. You will work with tech peers to define and execute product roadmaps. You will bring a continuous improvement mindset to the mechanisms and practices that enable engineering excellence and world class feature delivery. You must be customer obsessed and insist on the highest standards for operational excellence including service quality, performance, security, and scalability.
This role can be located in Edinburgh (preferred) or London.
A typical day involves engaging with customers, shaping innovative product strategies that anticipate customer needs, driving key technical architecture and design decisions, executing mechanisms to inspect and improve engineering and operational excellence, resolving impediments and toil that create friction for teams, coaching employees and leaders to advance individual and team growth.
