HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 57 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

The Group Chief Controls Oversight Office (GCCOO) is a new oversight structure being set up to simplify and improve the effectiveness of controls through a centralised approach and proactively manage underlying risk in the First Line of Defence (1LOD). This will include providing a globally consistent approach to control standards, aggregated reporting, and testing. The team is led by the Group Chief Control Oversight Officer who reports to the Group Chief Financial Officer (GCFO).

The Director – GCCOO Strategic Execution, is responsible for successfully leading, shaping and delivering large scale complex change from design to delivery for the GCCOO office.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for making complex HSBC-wide decisions, delivering high value financial improvement initiatives or regulatory outcomes, and creating an environment for development and capability uplift within the GCCOO.
  • A ‘trusted advisor’ to senior executive leaders across HSBC and within the GCCOO to support the identification of opportunities, constructively challenging conventional thinking, ensuring the customer and colleague outcomes shape the design, and then helping to prioritise and drive the execution of their change needs with a focus on delivering the desired customer, colleague, operational and regulatory / financial outcomes.
  • Responsible for determining strategic priorities and translating these into actionable plans and initiatives, overseeing execution and assessing ongoing impact.
  • Conversant with all facets of the change process including co-creating business cases and justification for initiatives, initiation of change, designing an approach and plan, designing the solution and its impact on the operating model, programme management, business analysis, change adoption and implementation needs, as well as ensuring outcomes and benefits materialise.
  • Lead deep-dive and ad hoc projects as and when required.
Skills and experience
  • Proven track record in developing, managing and implementing effective change and transformation programmes.
  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, capabilities, enabling technologies and governance.
  • Very strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors, innovation etc.
  • Proven experience in leading responses to organisational crisis and issues.
  • Able to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritise and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues.

The base location for this role is London on a hybrid basis.
