A major healthcare provider in Bristol is seeking an experienced Dietitian to provide comprehensive nutritional support for patients in gastroenterology, including a weekly liver clinic. This role requires expertise in complex nutrition support, with responsibilities including patient care, group education, and training student dietitians. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in Hepatology and Gastroenterology and a commitment to quality improvement and clinical audit. Opportunities for continuous professional development are provided.
North Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset from our award‑winning hospital building at Southmead. We are the regional Major Trauma Centre, and an internationally recognised centre of excellence in a range of services and major specialities. Our vision is that by enabling our teams to be the best that they can be, we will provide exceptional healthcare, personally delivered. North Bristol NHS Trust values all people as individuals. We aim to be an anti‑discriminatory organisation and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We welcome applicants from all underrepresented groups.
We are looking for an experienced Dietitian with knowledge of complex nutrition support in Hepatology and Gastroenterology to support inpatient and outpatient work in North Bristol NHS Trust (Southmead Hospital). The job involves a weekly (Thursday) Consultant lead Liver clinic and working alongside the Band 7 Gastroenterology Dietitian lead to support data collection as part of a dietetic liver project. Experience of audit and quality improvement is desirable but would be of benefit to help undertake data collection. The other part of the role includes providing dietetic cover to the busy acute inpatient gastroenterology ward, seeing patients with many clinical conditions like IBD, gastroparesis, hematology and hepatology. There will occasionally be the need for providing support to the eating disorders patients on this ward. We are a large teaching hospital and take students for their A, B and C placements from Plymouth University (BSc) and Birmingham City University (MSc). Experience of supporting students is essential. We encourage and support CPD within the department and provide in‑house and external opportunities for training to undertake this role.
