Overview

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Programme Executive is a role within Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, reporting to the DYW Programme Manager. The position offers 37.5 hours per week, based at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, 30 George Square, Glasgow G2 1EQ (hybrid). This is part of a Scottish Government national youth employability and skills initiative focusing on engaging industry with education to create inspiring activities for young people.

Key responsibilities include developing and managing industry links, guiding and supporting businesses to work with education, and delivering a broad portfolio of projects with multiple stakeholders to support the objectives of DYW Glasgow. The role involves business engagement to create partnerships with schools and programmes, strong stakeholder engagement, and relationship management with private, public and third sector organisations.

This is a demanding, externally facing role within the Projects Team, with opportunities to deliver innovative, high-profile project activity within the business community in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Work towards the fulfilment of pre-set KPIs, other performance indicators and targets.
  • Use creative marketing and networking to involve industry in delivering activity that supports education in the programme of work.
  • Collaborate with key partners in education services to provide a range of innovative DYW activity across schools in the city, ensuring those most in need are offered support.
  • Develop effective relationships and joint working practices with key partners such as Skills Development Scotland and Glasgow City Council.
  • Deliver impact on key equalities issues by working with partnership bodies in Glasgow and Scotland.
  • Devise and deliver innovative events (e.g., Jobs Fairs, Employer Inspiration Briefings) and link with curriculum delivery.
  • Manage the delivery and monitoring of the impact of projects supported by DYW funding.
  • Review delivery effectiveness and adapt as required.
  • Deliver any other relevant duties as required and record information for reporting purposes.
Person Specification
  • Experience in business development and account management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including at senior management level where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of emerging sectors in industry.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision in a small team.
  • Ability to identify gaps and opportunities, create solutions, and act proactively and engageingly.
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal resources.
  • Passion for making a difference to the city by working with the business community in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Glasgow’s economic issues.
  • Experience of working in an economic development environment.
