Position Design Manager

Location: Warrington

Pay Rate £400 - £480-a-day

The Role

An exciting opportunity as one of UK's largest main contractors is looking to recruit a Design Manager to join their retail and interiors division. A highly successful company working on some of the UK's most prestigious construction projects with an annual turnover more than £1.5bn and over 2000 employees nationwide.

You will be working on Retail fit‑out projects for leading high‑street brands with project values generally ranging from £500k to £5m; experience working on fit‑out or refurbishment projects previously is essential.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage the proposals
  • Produce and negotiate the project‑specific designer agreements, scope of works and the design management plan, ensuring they are agreed and fully understood by all parties
  • Ensure the project design is reviewed, mitigating Health & Safety issues
  • Produce & manage a realistic design programme & information required schedule satisfying design, procurement & construction requirements
  • Provide input into the design team PDR’s
  • Support the implementation of Continuous Improvement programmes and innovation
Candidate Experience
  • The successful individual will have worked for a main contractor or as lead Architect on fit‑out or refurbishment projects previously
  • It is recommended that they are working towards Professional Membership and professional qualifications in Building or Design relevant to the business stream
  • Retail fit‑out experience would be preferred
  • Good communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure
  • The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation & development, with a focus on the customer and the relevant business stream
  • The individual will have been the lead on projects previously and will have experience taking projects from inception through to completion
  • Excellent IT skills, numeracy and good written communications skills are required
