Job description

Design Manager

This would suit an experienced Design Manager ideally with a background in special-purpose machinery or automated solutions. Projects can vary in size from £50k up to £2m and often within automotive, medical, industrial and aerospace industries.

Salary £55K – £65K, 25 days holiday, pension contribution, laptop & phone

Hours Monday – Friday, 1pm finish Fridays.

The role

• Manage a small team of 4 design engineers.
• Design using 2D AutoCAD and Inventor 3D CAD software
• Design machines and systems from the concept stage through to the final detailed stage
• Involved with the planning, organising and customer meetings working closely with the project leader
• Solving problems and initiating corrective actions as required ensuring that the project is completed on time and within budget.
• Developing team skills set, motivation.
• Proactively engaging with emerging advances digital twins, Industry 4.0 principles
• Lead design reviews
• Participate in customer meetings to clarify technical requirements and present design concepts.

Person Profile

• Several years’ design management experience – essential
• A senior design engineer from the automation sector will be considered
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, robotics, and automation technologies – all beneficial
