Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop a variety of products including vehicle conversions and trailer systems from concept through to production‑ready designs.
  • Ensure all product designs comply with relevant transportation regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, subcontractors and production teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost‑effective and meet customer requirements.
  • Manage assigned design projects ensuring timely completion and coordination of resources.
  • Provide technical support by preparing detailed drawings for customer quotations and bespoke client needs.
  • Proactively identify and solve design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain technical documentation including CAD drawings, design specifications and compliance records.
  • Visit production sites as necessary to support design implementation and problem‑solving.
Person Specification
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in vehicle conversion or trailer design preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety compliance regulations and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or similar.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

In specialised industries or more senior roles a master's degree may be preferred or required.
