Job description

Design Engineer 6700

Location: Nailsworth, Stroud

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00

Salary:£40,000 – £50,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities of a Design Engineer:
  • Undertake design work on aviation-related engineering contracts, analysing specifications and producing accurate technical drawings
  • Design and detail aircraft refuelling vehicles and associated equipment
  • Modify, update, and improve existing designs
  • Prepare 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Generate engineering proposals, tender documentation, BOMs, and costings
  • Liaise with production, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure designs are fit for manufacture
  • Support project management from concept through to delivery
  • Assist with testing, QA, and commissioning of equipment
  • Supervise shop floor personnel where required
Key Skills of a Design Engineer:
  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical & Production Engineering or BEng / MEng in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in a design engineering role within an engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, and GD&T
  • Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software (AutoCAD & Inventor)
  • Experience with data management software (Autodesk Vault)
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work to short deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach
