Overview

We are seeking a Design Draughtsman with experience in sheet metal and cabinet/enclosure design to join a busy engineering team. This role is centred on producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD for bespoke, high-tech products.

Working from client-approved drawings, you will develop them into flat patterns and internal layouts that can be issued directly to suppliers and used by the shopfloor for assembly. Every project is custom-built, offering variety and the chance to see your work brought to life in production. This company designs and manufactures cutting-edge technology in-house, allowing you to see the direct impact of your work from design through to production.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD for bespoke, high-tech products.
• From client-approved drawings, develop flat patterns and internal layouts that can be issued directly to suppliers and used by the shopfloor for assembly.
• Interpret varied, custom project requirements and translate them into accurate manufacturing documentation.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure design intent and manufacturability are aligned across projects.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD, with experience producing 2D (and ideally 3D) drawings
• Practical experience working with sheet metal fabrication
• Experience designing bespoke products or custom solutions
• Background in sheet metal design with an understanding of how cabinets and enclosures are manufactured
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
