A community healthcare provider in Whitchurch is seeking a motivated Deputy Practice Manager to support daily operations. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Deputy Practice Manager at Wem and Prees Medical Practice.
Remuneration is dependant on experience between £30,000 to £33,000

The Deputy PM plays a key-role in the practice, supporting the Managing Partner in the running of the practice on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, adaptable, flexible with a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills. Strong organisational skills, ability to multi task, remaining calm under pressure.
Acting as central point of contact for the practice team and for providing effective supervision and leadership, you will be responsible to ensure the quality delivery of day-to-day non-medical services delivered by the practice.
This is an opportunity to join general practice, work with both the clinical and non-clinical teams to improve patient outcomes and efficiency within the practice. You will have a problem solving mindset and confidence to work independently.
Knowledge of primary care and previous experience in general practice is desirable, but not essential.

You will be responsible for delegated aspects of management, including,
Supportingthe Managing Partner in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuringstaff achieve their primary responsibilities
Being a point of reference for the management team.
Actingas the lead for recruitment including pre-employment checks and DBS
Evaluating, organising and overseeing the staff, medical students, registrars and locum inductionprogrammes
Overseeing and embedding staff appraisal process
Leadingthe management of the clinical system, ensuring IT security and IG complianceat all times.
Ensure confidentiality, equality, and compliance with health and safety policies.
Oversee the management of the premises, including health andsafety aspects and undertake risk assessments and mandatory training asrequired
Manage the complaints process, ensuring complaints are dealt with in a timely mannerand, where necessary, escalated to the next level
Maintainthe significant event database, providing advice to staff and briefing the teamat meetings as required
Identifytrends and devise solutions to reduce risk and repeated occurrences ofsignificant events
Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues to support a positive and professional practice environment.
We are a friendly, high achieving, innovative practice with two sites and a list size of just over 12,200 patients. One site is in the picturesque market town of Wem and the second a dispensing branch in the village of Prees. Both sites have convenient free parking for staff and patients.

Managed and supported by the Manging Partner you will be joining a supportive Management Team which comprises of Reception, Dispensary and Data Quality Managers.
Operating from modern premises, we are a growing team benefiting from additional PCN staff including Pharmacist, Pharmacy Tech, Physio, Cancer Care Co-ordinator and Social Prescriber.

The following are the core responsibilitiesof the practice manager. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry outother tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload andstaffing levels.
The Assistant Practice Manager is responsiblefor:
Supporting the Practice Manager in theday-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primaryresponsibilities
Providing leadership and guidance to allstaff ensuring that they adhere to policy and procedure at all times
Acting as the lead for recruitment includingpre-employment checks and DBS
Evaluating, organising and overseeing thestaff, locums, medical students and registrars induction programme
Embedding and overseeing staff appraisalprocess
Implementing and embedding an effectivepractice and staff development plan for all staff (clinical andadministrative) whilst maintaining a robust training record
Leading the management of the clinicalsystem, ensuring IT security and IG compliance at all times and responding toand resolving all local IT issues
Updating and acting as the focal point forthe practice website and social media sites
Marketing the practice appropriately toensure patient population is stable or increasing
Managing contracts for and highlightingissues with services i.e., cleaning, gardening, window cleaning etc.
Ensuring the staff implement the practicewide approach to the management of all patient services matters
Managing DNAs, providing data and planningtools coupled with liaison with referred repeat offenders
Manage the complaints process, ensuringcomplaints are dealt with in a timely manner and, where necessary, escalatedto the next level
Maintain the significant event database,providing advice to staff and briefing the team at meetings as required
Coordinating the practice diary, ensuringmeetings are scheduled appropriately
Ensuring all staff have the appropriate levelof training to enable them to carry out their individual roles andresponsibilities effectively
In addition to the primary responsibilities,the assistant practice manager may be requested to:
Deputise for the Practice Manager at internaland external meetings
Leading the Patient Participation Group
Coordination of all projects within thepractice
Identify trends and devise solutions to reducerisk and repeated occurrences of significant events
Ensure all staff are aware of the management ofthe premises, including health and safety aspects and undertake risk assessmentsand mandatory training as required including supporting the IPC lead
Support the PM in reviewing and regularlyupdating job descriptions and person specifications ensuring all staff arelegally and gainfully employed
Coordinating the reviewing and updating of allpractice policies and procedures
