Job description
Overview

The Deputy Named Nurse will contribute to the strategic development and operational implementation of the safeguarding agenda across The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will support and work closely with the Named Professionals and multiagency working in partnership to provide specialist advice on the management of safeguarding children, ensuring that children and young people and unborn who encounter services at the Trust, including children of adult patients where safeguarding concerns are identified, are safeguarded and their welfare promoted in accordance with Department of Health guidance, "Working Together to Safeguard Children", Laming Inquiry and the National Service Framework for children and relevant national recommendations and guidelines. The post holder will form part of a larger team of specialist safeguarding staff which include Mental health, MCA and DOLs, adult safeguarding and learning disabilities, who work to support children and families within the Hillingdon Borough and bordering locations.

Responsibilities
  • Work in direct accordance with NMC Standards, Policies and Procedures alongside The Hillingdon Hospital trust guidance, polices and procedures.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice and guidance and be a point of contact.
  • Regarding safeguarding Children and Young People and unborn aged 0-17across the organisation, working in partnership with outside agencies such as CAMHS and Children’s Social care to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.
  • Assist staff across the trust in recognising and acting on their duty of care to protect children, young people and unborn who are at risk of potential or have suffered significant harm.
  • Raise awareness of the needs specific to adolescents, promoting recognition of differences care in relation to adults.
  • Facilitate and provide safeguarding children case supervision in line with trust policy across the trust.
  • In collaboration with the Named Professionals, design, develop & deliver safeguarding children training based on training needs analysis and in accordance with legislation, national policies, and guidance.
  • Monitor, audit and evaluate multi-disciplinary child protection practice.
  • Support the process of ongoing research of safeguarding practices within the trust.
  • Contribute to Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews including reports, policies and guidelines ensuring learning is disseminated and recommendations for the trust are implemented.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services.
