Qualifications

  • 1+ year in a Senior/Deputy role within a residential children's home.
  • 2+ years experience in residential childcare.
  • Experienced in supporting young people with challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Support the daily operations of the home.
  • Lead, supervise and develop the staff team.
  • Ensure safeguarding and regulatory standards are consistently met.

Job description

We are seeking a committed and experienced Deputy Manager for our 3-bed EBD residential home.

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help lead the home with confidence and compassion, ensuring consistent, high-quality care, strong safeguarding practice, and a well supported staff team. You'll play a key role in shaping a positive culture where young people feel safe, understood and able to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the daily operations of the home
  • Lead, supervise and develop the staff team
  • Ensure safeguarding and regulatory standards are consistently met
  • Contribute to care planning, LAC reviews and multi-agency meetings
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and relationship-focused environment
Experience & Qualifications
  • 1+ year in a Senior/Deputy role within a residential children's home
  • 2+ years experience in residential childcare
  • Experienced in supporting young people with challenging behaviours
  • Attendance at LAC reviews and safeguarding meetings
  • Education to age 16 plus post-16 training/employment
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
  • Level 5 (desirable)
  • Confident working with parents, carers and external agencies
Skills & Abilities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and staff
  • Engage and support young people with adverse childhood experiences
  • Maintain clear professional boundaries
  • High resilience, motivation and commitment
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Strong literacy, IT and report-writing ability
  • Able to manage budgets and financial resources
  • Provide and record high-quality supervisions
  • Represent the organisation professionally at all times
  • Flexible, organised and able to prioritise workload.
Shift Pattern & Requirements
  • Able to work early shifts (7:30-15:30) and late shifts (15:00-22:00)
  • Some long days available.
  • No Sleep ins.
  • Flexibility is essential to meet service needs
  • Driver preferred but not essential.
