Overview

Deputy Head of Radiotherapy Physics, Consultant Clinical Scientist. Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Humber Health Partnership, seeks a highly motivated individual to join as Deputy Head of Radiotherapy Physics with Divisional managerial responsibilities. The role supports shaping the future of radiotherapy services for a population of circa 1 million within the Humber, Coast and Vale region.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Education/Qualifications: MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent; Corporate Membership of IPEM; HCPC Registration; Certificated DHSC recognition as a Medical Physics Expert in radiotherapy (level 8 equivalent)
  • Knowledge, Training & Experience: Highly advanced knowledge in Radiotherapy; experience in routine provision and operational management; change management leadership; practical experience as Medical Physics Expert for a radiotherapy service; project management for new systems/technologies
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Scientific and clinical leadership; excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; confidentiality awareness; ability to plan, assess, evaluate and implement patient care; prioritisation in changing environments
  • Special Attributes and Other: Expert knowledge of Radiation Physics; specialist knowledge of Radiotherapy processes; knowledge of Quality Management Systems; motivation to develop new skills; flexible and reliable
  • Other Requirements: Good timekeeping; ability to work from both hospital sites as required

Desirable

  • Higher Degree (PhD); Fellowship of IPEM; Chartered Scientist; AHCS HSSR or equivalent; Leadership/Management qualification
  • Leadership/Management qualifications and experience driving large-scale change; collaboration with Universities/NHSE; experience of staff reviews and appraisals
  • Advanced knowledge of Radiotherapy, Radiation Safety and Imaging systems; NHS finance and HR policy familiarity; development of business cases; experience in research and clinical governance
