At the FT, curiosity thrives and ambitious thinking is rewarded. Here, you’re given the chance to reach millions, create work that matters and deliver impartial journalism in a polarised world.

In our warm, collaborative culture, you’ll connect with a diverse community of experts who support your growth, career aspirations and wellbeing.

Your future at the FT will be filled with opportunities that challenge and inspire you. With no fixed path, you’ll discover new skills and forge a career that can take you anywhere.

The role

HTSI, the FT’s multi‑award‑winning luxury lifestyle magazine, is seeking a deputy chief sub‑editor to help shape our fully integrated print and digital content. This is a rare chance to join a title known for its sharp journalism, imaginative storytelling and distinctive visual style — a place where design, fashion, interiors, travel and culture meet the authority of the Financial Times.

HTSI publishes 42 print issues a year and runs a vibrant digital presence across web and social. You will be part of a small, collaborative team working on a fast‑paced production schedule. It’s an exciting environment for someone who enjoys both the pace of a newsroom and the craft of long‑form storytelling.

The successful applicant will have at least a few years’ subbing experience on a consumer magazine, having worked on both print and digital output.

Key responsibilities
  • Accurate spelling and grammar are essential
  • Commitment to factual accuracy across all aspects of HTSI’s output
  • Sensitive approach to copy, and dealing with writers
  • An aptitude for writing sophisticated display copy that is in tune with the magazine's readership, on and offline
  • A genius for the clickable online headline
  • The work will include some out‑of‑office hours responsibilities – evenings and weekends – including managing, updating and publishing live stories
  • To deputise for the chief sub‑editor in their absence
Who we are looking for
  • A confident self‑starter, able to implement the FT’s house style effortlessly
  • A creative thinker who can come up with headlines and stand‑firsts that are smart and elegant in print, and particularly clickable online
  • Someone who can respect copy and an editor’s choices
  • Someone with a rigorous eye for grammar and spacing; who will make sure every tiny picture caption is right
  • A flexible, responsive worker with strong leadership skills who can galvanise a team and adapt to change throughout the working day
  • Someone who enjoys HTSI’s content and is able to engage with it in a creative and thoughtful way

Please submit your application by the end of the day, Sunday December 14 2025.
