We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and highly skilled Acting Depute Head Teacher to join our team at Craigentinny Primary School.
The school was built in the 1930s and is a non-denominational primary school serving the Restalrig and Craigentinny area of North-East Edinburgh. We are part of the Leith Learning Community, working with associated primaries and Leith Academy to deliver the best learning experiences for our young people. The current school roll is 300 children, including 16 young people in Enhanced Support Base (ESB) classes. We have 12 mainstream classes and 2 ESB classes.
Within our Leadership Team, the Head Teacher is supported by one Depute Head Teacher and two Principal Teachers (one PT in Mainstream and one PT in Enhanced Support Base). The initial remit for the Acting Depute Head Teacher will focus on leading a level determined by candidate experience. Responsibilities include leading strategic improvement across the level, monitoring pupil achievement, and supporting pastoral care. The successful candidate will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team on whole-school initiatives and have responsibilities for areas of our School Improvement Plan. We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge of pedagogy, self-evaluation and leading strategic change.
The role of a Depute Head Teacher is to assist and, where necessary, deputise for the Head Teacher as required. The Head Teacher conducts the affairs of the school to benefit pupils and the community, under the direction of the City of Edinburgh Council and the Head of Education, within available resources.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post is subject to satisfactory outcomes of these pre-employment checks.
