Department Administrator 28 hours per week (4 days), 9am to 5pm Broxbourne - £14.77 to £15.61 per hour

We are recruiting for a temporary Department Administrator to work at Hertford Regional College to help deliver an outstanding learner experience and be inspirational to students at our state of art facilities in Broxbourne.

About The Role

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting the administrative needs of the curriculum areas (English) within Directorates. They will be responsible for the administration within curriculum areas. They will assist the curriculum teams in ensuring that all administrative processes are compliant.

Duties include:

  • General typing including letters, exam related correspondence to learners, learner references, directorate/department agendas, minutes and submissions to Quality Development Unit.
  • Inputting and amending data on college systems including the college s timetable programme, processing exam bookings, and arrangements for new student interviews from application to assessment outcome and course placement.
  • Full time learner recruitment distributing interview packs for tutors and answering learner queries.
  • Assisting with part time learner recruitment, including ensuring robust processes and data collection for new student interviews and assessment outcomes.
  • Responding to internal and external enquiries relating to directorate/department issues.
  • Acting as first point of contact for lecturer queries.
  • Recording learner absence in response to telephone calls.
  • Assisting the Director of Curriculum/Curriculum Area Manager by arranging meetings with learners and staff; liaising with other college functions on behalf of the directorate/department, including staff recruitment.
  • Other directorate/department duties as authorised by the Director of Curriculum commensurate with the grade of the post.
About You

Successful candidates will display a high level of secretarial and administrative skills (min 1 year), previous experience of working in a similar role, ability to manage information efficiently and effectively within a further education college, experience of providing a customer focussed service. They will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets and databases, possess a good standard of written and verbal communication, have the ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment, have proven experience which will enable you to carry out work with minimum supervision and solve a variety of problems and the ability to organise your work in an effective way.

  • Enhanced DBS application - administrated by HRG but at a cost of £65.20 (unless you already hold an enhanced DBS on the update service)
  • 2 years of professional/character references taken and verified
  • Several Online Training Modules sent out to you as stipulated by HRC
