Job Overview

They are looking for a motivated and experienced Dental Hygiene Therapist to deliver a wide range of preventative, therapeutic, and restorative dental care services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the dental team, including dentists and hygienists, to provide exceptional care and improve the oral health of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventative Care: Provide scaling and polishing of teeth, apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and preventive fillings, and educate patients on maintaining oral hygiene.
  • Restorative Procedures: Carry out restorative treatments such as filling cavities, preparing and restoring teeth with materials like composite and amalgam.
  • Patient Education: Advise patients on oral health care and hygiene, including diet and lifestyle changes to improve overall dental health.
  • X-Rays: Take, process, and analyse dental radiographs to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Periodontal Care: Perform basic periodontal treatment such as root planning and scaling to manage gum diseases under the guidance of a dentist.
  • Assist in Clinical Procedures: Assist dentists during treatments by preparing instruments, assisting in various procedures, and maintaining sterile conditions.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate patient records, manage appointments, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the dental team, including hygienists, assistants, and reception staff, to ensure seamless patient care and satisfaction.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Dental Hygiene Therapist General Dental Council (GDC) approved degree or diploma program.
  • Licensing/Certification: Valid Dental Hygiene GDC registration.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Dental Hygiene Therapist in a clinical setting preferred, but not required.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, including proficiency in restorative dentistry, scaling, and preventative care.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with patients and work effectively with the dental team.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain a high level of precision in treatment and documentation.
  • Compassionate: Strong commitment to patient care, comfort, and education.
  • Driver’s License: Possess a full UK drivers license.
Desirable Skills
  • Familiarity with dental software systems (e.g., SOE, Exact, Dentally).
  • Fluency in Welsh language is a plus.
