Overview

Effective policy is essential to delivering cyber security across the wider Defence community and, to be effective, it must be properly considered, clearly articulated and coherent.

As Security Policy Associate, you’ll bring together all aspects of STRAP policy for the department and its stakeholders (including external partners) and ensure that the policy and guidance is sustainable and forward looking. STRAP is a regime that regulates access to sensitive intelligence material which requires more protective handling than is afforded by the standard arrangements for government assets.

This position sits within the Governance, Risk and Compliance team within the Cyber Defence and Risk Directorate and is responsible to the STRAP Policy SEO for ensuring:

Responsibilities
  • Coordination and maintenance of departmental technical policy and guidance pertaining to STRAP, including to the wider Defence community.
  • Engagement with core stakeholders.
  • Maintenance, coordination and dissemination of MOD STRAP policy, to ensure that it, and the associated guidance, is sustainable and forward looking.
  • Support the management and coordination of STRAP policy compliance activities across MOD.
  • Ensure security assurance reports are available, upon request from the senior leadership team and other Government departments (OGD).
  • Maintain close liaison with key stakeholders across MOD and OGDs, to support wider policy activities.
  • Provide security advice and guidance relating to physical, technical and personnel security.
  • Contribute to policy on specific security training courses and managing course applications.
  • Maintain an understanding of advancing technology direction, to ensure policy is current.
